Background
AVVATech Vatten & Miljöteknik AB, a Swedish engineering firm specializing in water and wastewater treatment solutions, was selected through a public procurement process to deliver a technical solution for a municipal wastewater treatment project. The end customer sought equipment that complied with strict power quality (PQ) requirements enforced by their power supplier – particularly regarding Total Harmonic Distortion of Current (THDI) and Voltage (THDU). AVVATech won the contract by offering a competitive bid paired with a technically sound approach.
Challenge
The core challenge was selecting machinery that would not only meet operational demands but also conform to stringent PQ specifications. The chosen turbo blowers lacked built-in harmonic filters capable of achieving the required PQ levels. Because of this limitation, AVVATech began looking elsewhere, which led them to discover Comsys and Active Dynamic Filters (ADFs). AVVATech needed a solution that would ensure compliance without compromising efficiency or reliability. Although the end customer had not yet experienced any power quality issues, the specifications from the power supplier were precautionary and non-negotiable.
Solution
After evaluating various options, AVVATech partnered with Comsys to integrate an ADF P300 solution, outfitted with two power modules, into the system. Comsys was selected not just for the quality of its product but also for its deep technical expertise and responsive support. Their proximity in southern Sweden was an added benefit, offering fast service if needed.
The Comsys team worked closely with AVVATech to ensure the ADF configuration met the unique requirements of the site. This collaboration provided AVVATech with a trusted extension to their technical team, bridging the knowledge gap in this relatively new area of power quality management within Sweden’s water treatment sector.

Results
The ADF installation successfully addressed the PQ demands imposed by the power supplier. Although extensive logging has not been performed due to limited resources at the end customer site, initial feedback has been positive. Two knowledgeable contacts at the facility acknowledged the promising impact of the ADFs, even if formal results haven’t yet been fully tracked.

Right from the start I felt that Comsys was extremely informative. The questions that we had found strange and difficult were easily answered by Comsys and the details were explained in a way that made our choice easy.
